A Field Trip?
Done in a group of 7, this is a graphic narrative of Seattle, the product of a 3 day Field Study of the city. Our professor took us on a field trip across the border to apply our knowledge of theories on urban sprawl.
How we did it
A group of 7 is large so there were 2 writers, 3 graphics people and 1 Flash programmer. We first got together and discussed what we wanted to present and got to work. Each color in the poster is done by a person then merged into a whole. I was one of them and we collaborated on the look and feel of the poster. To push it to another level, we made the poster interactive with Flash website.
What it means
This poster shows the orderly grid as seen downtown with its office buildings, the complexity in areas where the true essence of the city lies and the reation to this as seen through the grafitti and stickering by people who we felt wanted to reclaim the identity of the city. Harmony lies within spaces designed for people such as the Public Market, the crazy library by Rem Koolhaas and Capitol Hill.
